Product Profile

Polyethylene (PE) Spiral Structured Wall Pipe (Krah Pipe) is a premium large-diameter flexible piping solution specifically engineered for the extreme corrosion challenges of marine, coastal, and offshore infrastructure environments. Manufactured from high-grade polyethylene using an advanced hot-state spiral winding and controlled cooling process, it delivers permanent saltwater immunity combined with the structural robustness required for subsea outfalls, harbor installations, and desalination facility piping.

Krah Pipes for marine service employ the proprietary integrated socket-and-spigot electrofusion jointing system, with precision-profiled bell and spigot ends and permanently embedded electrical resistance fusion elements. On-site jointing achieves a complete molecular-level fusion bond using only a standard power supply, creating a 100% leak-proof pipeline that prevents both seawater ingress and effluent escape in environmentally sensitive coastal and marine waters.

This product is extensively deployed in seawater intake and outfall structures, desalination plant feed and brine disposal lines, harbor and port drainage networks, coastal erosion protection culverts, and offshore platform utility systems. As a replacement for corroding steel, concrete, and GRP marine pipelines, it has been designated as a Top-Priority Promoted Product by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD) for critical water infrastructure.

Marine Engineering Advantages
Absolute Seawater Corrosion Immunity

The defining advantage of Krah Pipe in marine service is its complete chemical inertness to seawater, brine, and marine atmosphere. Unlike steel, ductile iron, and concrete pipes that progressively degrade through chloride-induced corrosion, the all-polyethylene construction maintains full structural integrity indefinitely in submerged, intertidal, and salt-spray environments.

HDPE provides permanent resistance to the electro-chemical corrosion, galvanic coupling, marine borer organisms, and microbiologically influenced degradation that destroy conventional marine piping materials within years of installation in coastal waters.

Negative Buoyancy & Seabed Stability

The structured wall design can be engineered with ballast weighting or concrete collars to achieve precise negative buoyancy for submerged installations. The pipe's inherent flexibility accommodates seabed undulation, tidal current forces, and storm surge hydraulic loading without the rigid-joint failures that plague concrete and steel submarine pipelines.

Marine Sediment & Abrasion Resistance

The ultra-smooth internal HDPE surface resists the abrasive scouring of suspended sand, silt, and marine sediments transported in seawater intake and outfall flows. Unlike internally lined steel pipes, the homogeneous PE wall provides consistent abrasion protection throughout the full pipe wall thickness.

Marine & Coastal Applications
  • Seawater Desalination Intake & Outfall: Open-sea intake pipelines and brine concentrate disposal outfalls for SWRO, MED, and MSF desalination facilities.
  • Coastal Power Station Cooling: Large-diameter cooling water intake and discharge systems for thermal and nuclear coastal power plants.
  • Harbor & Port Drainage: Stormwater and wastewater collection networks within seaport terminals, container yards, and cruise berthing facilities.
  • Marine Outfall Pipelines: Treated effluent disposal to marine receiving waters with fully sealed electrofusion joints preventing environmental leakage.
  • Offshore Platform Utilities: Firewater, drainage, and seawater service piping on fixed and floating offshore production installations.
